Pretty much told same thing, and yes, by someone with a foreign accent who was very difficult to understand and then was irritated with me for having to keep asking him to repeat himself. But his plug went something like this -- "Every year the government picks fifteen thousand people who pay their taxes on time and grants them $7000 in free money to be used for education or medical expenses." He had my name and street address and zip code already, but asked for my birthdate and bank account info for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to wire the money into my account, which i said i would only provide if i could have some information about him, his location, and his "department" that i could research and/or call and verify for myself first. Again, frustrated with that request, he kept telling me not to worry about that, that he would provide me ALL that information AFTER i confirmed that i was "Eja", and that i only had 2 options to get the money -- give him my bank account or credit card info for the Electronic Funds Transfer from the Federal Reserve Bank, OR i could come to Washington and pick up my check in person (The address he provided was U.S. Government Grant Department, 200 Independent Avenue, Washington DC, 2nd Floor Dept 4, 20201 -- also funny to note that that address information is not in proper United States Postal Service order, since postage readers read addresses from the bottom up - "2nd Floor Dept 4" would never come AFTER the Washington DC part). i then laughed and said, "Sir, in this day and age, i am not providing you with any information whatsoever unless i can confirm you're legitimate." He then responded in an angry tone and said, "Ya, M'am, go ahead and laugh -- you're throwing away $7000 in free money!" I said, "Well if my government is so desperate to shove free money down my throat, they obviously know where i live -- have them mail me my grant money!"

I have been receiving calls from this number for over 2 weeks now. It calls me everyday (with 1 or 2 exceptions in the last 2 1/2wks) sometimes twice a day. I just now noticed today that it was actually in order...123456789... Of course on my phone it's 1-234-567-898. There's not even a last digit. But all I noticed was that it was a weird area code-- Not in dallas where I live. Of course I don't answer numbers that I don't know. I have never answered and they have never left a message. The fact that there's no message left makes me think it can't be a bill collecter. From what I've read I guess it's somebody calling via the internet. I guess you can choose whatever number you want.... But WHY do they continue to call???.....*sigh..
